The iPod Touch 6th Gen? : Let’s find out…

The iPod Touch is part MP3 player, part way to access the Apple App store, and it offers a taste of what you could be getting from an iPhone at a fraction of the price. They’re not cheap, especially when compared to budget tablets like the Amazon Fire HD 6 or the Amazon Fire HD 7.

It starts at $199 for the 16GB model and goes up to $399 for the 128GB model.

But the iPod Touch faces some stiff competition: you probably already own a smartphone, and smartwatches and tablets which are much better than the iPod Touch 6G so I would not actually reccomend buying this even though it has the all-new A8 chip as still it qualifies as an MP3 player and that fact means it has some not so great optimizations which according to me are not very welcome.

But, that said it is still not a bad choice for people who are looking for a cheap way to access to iOS app store and install apps. If you fall under that category, then what are you waiting for? Go buy it!

  1. Appreciate the quick, critical perspective.

A quibble. Gobs of “smartphones” that people own are weak, poor, and limited–so, this, with latest chip, escellent camera, iOS.eco-system, etc, could well be an improvement and well worth it.

We have iPhone 4 that we don’t use for cell, so this is tempting!

Say, typo at end…”go by it” or “go buy it”?! 🙂

    In any event, nice column!
